When I started writing, short stories were my go-to. Of course, back then, they didn't feel so short. I remember how proud I was when I told anyone who'd listen that I wrote THIRTEEN WHOLE PAGES! Now, it's an act of magic if I can limit myself to that many, but there's still a certain magic about the short story.
Stephen King got his start writing short stories and submitting them to magazines.
One of the greatest stories ever is told in the first five minutes of the movie "Up!"
Plus, a lot of the literature we read in school is either short fiction or excerpts from larger works.
So, depending on the story, I find myself driving back to shorter fiction now and again, and it appears I'm not the only one. More than 100 other authors got together to share their short fiction with readers, and I'm one of them. We write across genres - from mystery to romance - but surely somewhere in there, you'll find a book for you.
Happy reading! <3
